Juventus have been given the green light to sign Japan international goalkeeper Zion Suzuki on loan from Paris Saint-Germain for the 2026-27 season, after PSG’s 2-1 UEFA Super Cup win against Aston Villa on Wednesday.
PSG had delayed final approval for the temporary move until after the match in case either of their goalkeepers, Matvei Safonov or Lucas Chevalier, suffered an injury during the game. With both players apparently available, Suzuki’s loan to Juventus can now proceed.
The Paris club have agreed a permanent transfer for Suzuki with Parma, with the total value of the deal reported to be €35m including bonuses. Tuttosport reported on Thursday that the final figure could instead reach €36m.
Suzuki is expected to complete his move to PSG before immediately leaving on loan for Juventus. Reports earlier this week indicated that the goalkeeper had already approved the proposed switch to Turin, while agreements have been reached between Juventus and PSG over the loan and between PSG and Parma over the permanent transfer.
Only the final formalities remain before the move can be completed.
Suzuki is expected to travel to Paris on either Thursday or Friday to undergo his medical examination and finalise his transfer to PSG. He will then travel to Turin over the weekend to complete the loan agreement with Juventus.
The Italian club are expected to share the player’s salary equally with PSG throughout the loan spell.
The arrangement would give Juventus a short-term solution in goal while PSG are expected to continue with Safonov as their first-choice goalkeeper for the 2026-27 campaign. Juventus are also understood to be considering a future move for Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker, potentially on a free transfer next summer.
Suzuki, 23, has established himself as a Japan international during his time at Parma and is now set to become the subject of a major transfer involving two of Europe’s leading clubs.
PSG’s decision to wait until after the UEFA Super Cup was intended to protect their goalkeeping options before releasing Suzuki on loan. The French side’s 2-1 victory over Aston Villa removed that concern and allowed the next stage of the deal to move forward.
The final sequence of the transfer is therefore expected to see Suzuki leave Parma on a permanent basis, report to PSG for his medical and then join Juventus in Turin on a season-long loan.
