Zamalek midfielder Abdullah Al-Saeed has confirmed he will remain with the Egyptian club and has reversed his decision to retire from football.
The experienced international issued a statement addressing recent speculation over his future and assured Zamalek supporters that he remains committed to the club.
Al-Saeed said reports suggesting he had turned against Zamalek were untrue and insisted that he had no intention of abandoning the club or its supporters.
His statement also revealed that he had considered ending his playing career, a decision that contributed to his absence when Zamalek began preparations for the new season.
Addressing Zamalek’s supporters through his official accounts, Al-Saeed said: “To the great fans of Zamalek Club, from the first moment I joined a great entity called Zamalek Club, I consider myself part of this great family, and one of the sons of this great club and one of its fans. What I experienced during this period was not just a passing phase in my life, but rather the most important milestones of my football career amidst this audience from whom I saw nothing but love and appreciation.”
The midfielder’s comments come after uncertainty surrounding his situation at the club in recent days.
Al-Saeed moved to directly reject claims that he had rebelled against Zamalek, making clear that he still considers himself part of the club.
He said everything that had been reported during the previous few hours was false and that remaining with Zamalek was his preferred choice.
The player said: “everything that has been circulating in the past few hours is completely false. I have never rebelled against Zamalek Club, and my choice will never be to lose Zamalek and its great fans, no matter what happens. I am honored to be here.”
Al-Saeed then explained why he had been absent from the beginning of the club’s preparations.
He confirmed that retirement had been a genuine consideration and that he had spent time thinking about bringing his career to an end.
He added: “I had thought about retiring and ending my football career, and it was a moment that would inevitably sadden me. This took some time and coincided with the beginning of the team’s preparation period, hence my absence from starting with them. As a member of this family, whose true meaning I felt in every situation, I affirm my complete respect and appreciation for Zamalek Club, its fans, the board of directors, and the decisions it makes, and I am honored to be among its ranks this season.”
The announcement provides clarity over Al-Saeed’s immediate future and confirms that he intends to continue his playing career with Zamalek.
Rather than stepping away from football, the midfielder will now focus on preparing for another season with the club.
His message also sought to reassure supporters who had been concerned about his absence and the reports surrounding his relationship with Zamalek.
The experienced player made clear that his commitment extends beyond simply remaining at the club.
He promised to put Zamalek’s interests ahead of his own and pledged to compete for the trophies available to the team during the coming campaign.
Al-Saeed concluded his message with a direct appeal to the club’s supporters.
He said: “I assure the great fans that I will put Zamalek’s interests first, and I promise them that I will fight and battle for all championships next season. Long live Zamalek and long live its loyal fans.”
The statement marks a significant change from the uncertainty that had surrounded the midfielder after he was absent from the opening stages of Zamalek’s preparations.
His explanation indicates that the absence was connected to his personal consideration of retirement rather than an attempt to distance himself from the club.
Al-Saeed’s decision to continue means Zamalek will retain an experienced international player as they prepare for the new season.
The midfielder has also made clear that he respects the club’s board and its decisions, while emphasising his relationship with the supporters.
For Zamalek, the announcement removes immediate uncertainty over one of the squad’s experienced players.
For Al-Saeed, it provides an opportunity to continue his career at a club he describes as an important part of his football journey.
The focus can now shift from speculation over his future to preparations for the season, with Al-Saeed promising to give everything in the pursuit of silverware.
His message was ultimately one of commitment: he intends to stay, continue playing and fight for Zamalek’s ambitions in the campaign ahead.
