Galatasaray have decided that Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen will remain at the Turkish club beyond the summer transfer window despite interest from several leading European sides.
The Turkish champions have rejected a series of approaches for the 27-year-old and are not planning to consider further offers for their star forward, according to BeinSports.
Osimhen played an important part in Galatasaray’s success last season as they secured a fourth consecutive Süper Lig title and reached the last 16 of the Champions League.
His goals have quickly established him as one of the club’s most influential players since his arrival, while his performances have also made him a major figure in Turkish football.
Galatasaray’s decision to retain the striker is supported by the terms of his contract. Osimhen is tied to the club until June 2029 and does not have a release clause, meaning Galatasaray have control over whether he leaves and the circumstances of any potential transfer.
That position has already been tested by approaches from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Atlético Madrid reportedly submitted an offer that could have been worth as much as €125m, but the proposal did not convince Galatasaray to sell.
Manchester United also made concrete enquiries about the Nigerian, although those efforts likewise failed to alter the Turkish club’s stance.
Arsenal attempted to structure their interest differently by proposing a deal involving Sweden striker Viktor Gyökeres and an additional €30m.
Galatasaray rejected that offer as well.
Tottenham have also been unable to persuade the Turkish champions to part with Osimhen, with a reported €60m bid among the approaches turned down.
Spanish clubs Barcelona and Real Madrid have also been linked with the striker, although neither has made a move so far.
Galatasaray’s determination to keep Osimhen is not based solely on the financial value of the player.
The club are planning a greater leadership role for the striker following Mauro Icardi’s departure. Galatasaray intend to hand Osimhen the famous number nine shirt and make him captain.
They also want the Nigeria international to lead the team during their next Champions League campaign, underlining his importance to their sporting plans.
Another factor could make a potential transfer particularly complicated for Italian clubs.
A clause connected to Osimhen’s move from Napoli means Galatasaray could face a penalty of at least €70m if they sell him to a Serie A club before September 2027.
That provision could make an approach from an Italian side considerably more difficult and further strengthens Galatasaray’s position over the striker’s future.
Osimhen’s performances during his first season in Istanbul have also provided the club with strong reasons to retain him.
The Nigeria international scored 35 goals in all competitions and also registered seven assists.
He reached another milestone by becoming the fastest player in Galatasaray’s history to score 50 goals, achieving the feat in just 59 appearances.
Those figures have made Osimhen a central part of the club’s recent success and explain why Galatasaray are reluctant to sacrifice his goalscoring ability for a major transfer fee.
The club’s position is therefore clear as the summer window approaches its conclusion.
With Osimhen under contract until 2029, no release clause in his deal and a leading role planned for him in the team’s future, Galatasaray have little reason to accept an offer unless it fits their sporting and financial demands.
The Turkish champions have already demonstrated that large proposals will not automatically persuade them to sell.
Atlético Madrid, Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham have all seen their approaches fail, while Barcelona and Real Madrid have yet to make formal moves despite being linked with the striker.
For Osimhen, the current situation points towards another season in Istanbul.
After helping Galatasaray win another domestic title and reach the Champions League knockout stage, he is now expected to take on an even greater responsibility as the club’s number nine and captain.
With the Turkish champions determined to build their next European campaign around him, the Super Eagles striker appears set to remain at Galatasaray beyond the summer transfer window.
