Noa Lang could leave Napoli as Ajax consider move for Netherlands forward

Ajax are interested in signing Napoli forward Noa Lang after the Italian club placed the player on the transfer list, according to respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

Lang returned to Napoli after an unsuccessful attempt to secure his future at Galatasaray, but the Serie A club are not relying on him for the new season. A move to Amsterdam could now provide the forward with a fresh opportunity, with Ajax emerging as a possible destination.

Di Marzio has reported Ajax’s interest but has not provided specific details about the Dutch club’s approach, including whether a formal offer has been made or what transfer fee might be involved.

Napoli are understood to be willing to sell Lang after the failed Galatasaray arrangement. His departure could also have an impact on the club’s wider transfer plans, as a sale would help unlock their activity in the market.

According to Di Marzio, Napoli could use the funds and squad space created by Lang’s exit to pursue another forward. One possible target is Gabriel Jesus, although no deal for the Arsenal player has been confirmed.

The situation follows Napoli’s decision at the end of July to put Lang on the transfer list. The club had hoped his future could be settled through Galatasaray, but that move did not develop as intended and the player subsequently returned to Naples.

Napoli are therefore looking for a solution, while Ajax could offer Lang a route back to the Netherlands. The Amsterdam club’s interest has not yet resulted in publicly reported concrete terms, but the possibility of a transfer has emerged as the new Serie A season approaches.

The new Serie A campaign is due to begin on 22 August. Napoli’s need to shape their attacking options before then could make Lang’s position an important part of their transfer plans.

For Ajax, the interest represents a potential opportunity to bring the forward to Amsterdam, although the available information does not indicate that an agreement has been reached. For Napoli, meanwhile, the sale of Lang may be significant not only in resolving the player’s immediate future but also in creating room to strengthen the attack elsewhere.

The next stage will depend on whether Ajax’s interest develops into a formal proposal and whether Napoli can use Lang’s departure to progress their pursuit of another forward, with Gabriel Jesus among the names mentioned.
