Newcastle United are considering a move for Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush as they look to reinvest money from recent player sales into strengthening their attack.
The Egypt international is valued at between €60m and €65m, with City reportedly prepared to consider his departure if they receive an acceptable offer.
Newcastle are among the clubs interested in the 27-year-old, although no formal bid has yet been submitted for the versatile forward.
The potential transfer comes as Newcastle continue to reshape their squad following a number of high-profile departures. Those sales have given the club greater financial flexibility, allowing them to explore significant additions in attack.
Marmoush is viewed as a player who could offer Newcastle tactical flexibility. He can operate as a centre-forward, play behind the main striker or move into a wider attacking position.
That versatility could allow him to fit into different systems and provide Newcastle with additional options in the final third.
Newcastle also have direct experience of the Egyptian’s threat. Marmoush produced two particularly impressive performances against the club during the 2025-26 campaign.
In an FA Cup meeting at St James’ Park, he scored twice as Manchester City won 3-1. His goals came in the 47th and 65th minutes.
Marmoush had also produced an outstanding display against Newcastle in the Premier League, scoring three times in a 4-0 victory. His hat-trick was completed within 14 minutes, highlighting the attacking threat he can pose when given opportunities in front of goal.
The forward’s rise began before his move to Manchester City, when he established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s leading attacking players with Eintracht Frankfurt.
His performances in Germany attracted interest from some of Europe’s leading clubs before City completed his signing in January 2025 for a fee of about €75m.
Marmoush has continued to demonstrate his ability since moving to England, although competition for places in Pep Guardiola’s squad has at times restricted his playing opportunities.
He has recorded 16 goals and six assists in 61 appearances for City, according to the data cited in the article.
His numbers at Frankfurt were even stronger. He scored 37 goals and provided 20 assists in 67 matches during his time with the German club.
Newcastle could also see Marmoush’s existing Premier League experience as an advantage. Having already spent time adapting to English football, he would not face the same adjustment period as a player arriving from abroad.
His time working under Guardiola has also helped develop several aspects of his game. Marmoush has become accustomed to operating between defensive lines, attacking open spaces and contributing to the press while retaining the direct style that made him effective in Germany.
Those qualities could make him an attractive option for Newcastle as they look to add another dimension to their attack.
However, the financial demands of the proposed deal could prove significant.
City’s reported valuation of €60m to €65m would represent a substantial amount for Newcastle to spend on a 27-year-old player, particularly given that Manchester City signed Marmoush for about €75m only in January 2025.
For City, a sale at that level would allow them to recover much of their original investment.
For Newcastle, meanwhile, the move would represent a major commitment to a player with considerable experience and the ability to operate in several attacking positions.
Despite the reported interest, there is currently no official offer on the table.
The situation remains at the stage of interest and discussions, with Newcastle monitoring Marmoush’s position at Manchester City.
Should the Magpies decide to make a formal approach, the forward’s potential departure could become one of the significant deals of the transfer window.
For Marmoush, a move away from City could provide an opportunity to take on a more prominent attacking role and greater responsibility after a period of competition for places at the Etihad.
