Ivorian duo Godo and Doué power Strasbourg to dominant win over Nice

RC Strasbourg delivered an assured 3-1 victory over OGC Nice in Ligue 1, with Ivorian players Martial Godo and Guéla Doué playing decisive roles in a performance that underlined their growing influence at both club and international level.

The match was effectively shaped in the first half, as Strasbourg capitalised on early momentum to establish a commanding lead.

At the heart of that dominance was a well-executed partnership between Godo and Doué, whose combination opened the scoring and set the tone for the hosts’ success.

The breakthrough came in the 28th minute when Doué, operating from the right flank, delivered a precise cross into the penalty area.

Godo rose confidently to meet it, guiding a composed header into the net to give Strasbourg the lead.

The move highlighted the understanding between the two Ivorians and provided a glimpse of their growing chemistry.

Strasbourg built on that advantage with further goals before the break.

Enciso doubled the lead in the 36th minute, while El Mourabet added a third just before half-time with a well-taken effort, putting the home side firmly in control heading into the interval.

Godo, who has been one of Strasbourg’s standout performers this season, once again demonstrated his attacking quality.

The winger’s goal took his league tally to eight, along with one assist, underlining his efficiency in front of goal. His constant movement and direct play caused persistent problems for the Nice defence before he was substituted in the 77th minute after an influential display.

Doué, meanwhile, delivered a complete performance at right-back.

Equally effective in defence and attack, he remained a consistent outlet throughout the match and completed the full 90 minutes.

His assist in this encounter brings his Ligue 1 contributions to seven assists and two goals this season, further emphasising his importance to the team.

Despite Nice pulling a goal back in the second half, Strasbourg remained composed and well-organised, limiting their opponents’ opportunities and seeing out the match with relative comfort.

Beyond the result, the performance of Godo and Doué will not go unnoticed in Ivory Coast.

Both players are strengthening their case for greater involvement with the national team, offering a blend of attacking threat and defensive reliability.
