Chelsea produced a convincing 3-0 victory over AC Milan in a friendly match in Australia, with Joao Pedro scoring twice before Moises Caicedo completed the victory early in the second half.
The Premier League side took control of the contest late in the opening period, breaking the deadlock shortly before half-time. Caicedo delivered a cross from the corner, finding Joao Pedro in the visitors’ attacking move. The forward met the ball with a header, directing it into the far corner of the net to give Chelsea the lead.
Joao Pedro struck again soon after the interval to put Chelsea firmly in command. The Brazilian reacted quickest at the far post after Neto sent the ball forward, getting in front of the defenders to finish the move and double his side’s advantage.
Chelsea then added a third goal in the 50th minute. Caicedo collected the opportunity around 20 metres from goal and sent a low shot into the right-hand corner, leaving AC Milan with a three-goal deficit.
The scoreline remained unchanged for the rest of the match, although both teams came close to finding the net again. Jackson hit the post for Chelsea, while Kenda also struck the woodwork for AC Milan before the final whistle.
The result gave Chelsea a comfortable success in their meeting with the Italian club, with their decisive spell beginning just before half-time and continuing into the opening minutes of the second half. Joao Pedro’s two finishes provided the main difference between the teams, while Caicedo contributed both an assist and a goal.
AC Milan were unable to respond after conceding the opening goal, despite creating one of the match’s late chances when Kenda hit the post. Chelsea also saw an effort from Jackson denied by the frame of the goal, but the visitors had already done enough to secure a clear victory.
