Bobby Adekanye has joined Singaporean club Lion City Sailors on a two-year contract after the Nigerian forward left the market as a free agent.
The 27-year-old, who can play as a winger or second striker, had briefly attracted interest from clubs in the Eerste Divisie before agreeing to continue his career in Singapore.
Lion City Sailors confirmed the move by announcing: “The Lion City Sailors are thrilled to announce the signing of former Liverpool youngster, Bobby Adekanye, on a two-year deal – bringing pace, flair and proven European experience to the squad ahead of the upcoming season.”
Adekanye is a left-footed attacker who is most comfortable operating from the right side or in a supporting role behind a main striker. His arrival gives the Sailors another forward capable of adding speed and creativity in the final third.
The club highlighted his ability to take on defenders and influence matches in tight attacking areas. Adekanye is known for his dribbling, direct running and agility, qualities that can allow him to create opportunities when space is limited.
His movement and positioning in crowded areas were also identified as strengths by Lion City Sailors, who believe those characteristics will add a different dimension to their attack.
