It was inevitable. Victor Wanyama has officially announced his retirement. The Kenyan played in four different countries for six different clubs, including notable spells at Tottenham and Southampton.

“Today, I announce my retirement from football. Four different countries, six different clubs. A boy from Muthurwa with a big dream, carrying the pride of a nation every time I stepped onto the pitch. To my family, my friends, my agent, the fans, and the coaching staff who helped me along the way,” Victor posted on his social media.

Without a club since the end of his time with the Scottish side Dunfermline, the now-former player represented his country 65 times. He scored 6 goals for Harambee Stars. He has a UEFA Champions League runner-up medal, won in 2019.
“I am now taking the next step by turning to coaching, where I will complete my UEFA A license this year.”
