Liverpool have received the go-ahead from Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye over a possible move to Anfield this summer, according to Fabrice Hawkins.
The 18-year-old Senegal international is expected to leave the French club, where he was developed, with his future potentially set to continue in the Premier League. Liverpool are working to strengthen their right side and are keen to add Mbaye to their squad.
Discussions with Paris Saint-Germain are expected to begin soon after Mbaye reportedly gave his approval for the transfer. Hawkins also confirms that Liverpool remain interested in another PSG winger, Bradley Barcola.
Mbaye has already attracted attention with his pace and his ability to beat opponents in one-on-one situations. A departure would represent another blow for Paris Saint-Germain, who are already under pressure in the transfer market.
The Senegal international remains under contract with the Paris club until 30 June 2028. His current market value is estimated at 30m euros by Transfermarkt.
Mbaye earns 910,000 euros (£765,000) per year at Paris Saint-Germain, equivalent to 591,500,000 CFA francs.
Liverpool’s interest comes as the club assess their options on the right flank. Mbaye’s profile, age and attacking qualities have made him a potential target as the Reds look to reinforce that area of the team.
The teenager has been formed through the Paris Saint-Germain academy and is regarded as one of the club’s emerging talents. His willingness to consider a move to Liverpool means the next stage of the process will centre on negotiations between the two clubs.
