Real Madrid are set to reopen negotiations with RB Leipzig over a deal for Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomandé, with the Spanish club hoping to complete the transfer quickly and send the teenager for a medical.
According to Sky Germany, officials from both clubs are due to hold further discussions as they attempt to settle the remaining details of an agreement for the 19-year-old.
Madrid’s immediate aim is to reach a definitive deal that would allow Diomandé to travel to Spain, where he is expected to undergo a medical examination and complete the formalities of a proposed move.
The winger remains under contract with Leipzig until an agreement is finalised.
Real Madrid have already made an offer for Diomandé, reported to be worth €100m including €10m in potential bonuses. Leipzig rejected that proposal and are understood to be seeking approximately €130m.
Although a preliminary agreement between the clubs has subsequently been announced, the transfer has not yet reached its final stage.
Further negotiations are therefore expected to concentrate on the financial structure of the deal, with both sides seeking to resolve the outstanding issues before Diomandé can complete his move to Spain.
Leipzig’s valuation reflects the rapid development of the Ivorian since he joined the German club from Leganés in July 2025.
Diomandé reportedly cost Leipzig about €20m and has since produced 13 goals and nine assists in 36 appearances in all competitions.
His record in the Bundesliga includes 12 goals and eight assists from 33 matches.
If Leipzig secure a €130m transfer fee, the German club would make a gross profit of close to €110m after only one season with the player.
Diomandé’s performances have increased his value and attracted interest because of his pace, dribbling ability and capacity to get past defenders.
Those qualities have also reportedly made him a major attacking target for José Mourinho.
However, the transfer negotiations are not solely focused on the fee.
A separate dispute involving Diomandé’s representation has also emerged, with his former agency, Maxidel Management, led by Max Gradel, reportedly taking the matter to FIFA over representation rights.
Diomandé is now represented by Roc Nation, which is conducting negotiations with both Real Madrid and Leipzig over the proposed transfer.
The dispute has created another issue around the deal, although Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer has played down its potential effect on the negotiations.
The clubs’ attention is expected to remain primarily on reaching agreement over the financial terms.
Until those negotiations are concluded and a formal agreement is signed, Diomandé remains officially a Leipzig player.
Real Madrid’s desire to move quickly reflects their intention to complete the transfer process and have the teenager travel to Spain for his medical and contract signing.
For Leipzig, the priority will be securing terms that reflect their valuation of a player who has made a significant impact since arriving from Leganés.
The difference between Madrid’s reported €100m opening proposal and Leipzig’s €130m demand remains one of the main issues to resolve.
The next discussions will determine whether the two clubs can bridge that gap and turn the preliminary understanding into a final agreement.
Diomandé’s future therefore remains unresolved, despite the reported progress between Real Madrid and Leipzig.
For now, the Ivorian winger must wait for the clubs to settle the outstanding financial details before he can complete the next stage of his move to Madrid.
