Vincent Kompany has told Joao Palhinha, Sacha Boey and Bryan Zaragoza that they are not part of his plans for Bayern Munich this season, with the three players now seeking new clubs before the summer transfer window closes.
The Bayern manager said the club had communicated its decision to the players clearly and directly as part of an effort to restructure the squad before the end of the window.
Speaking at a news conference, Kompany provided an update on Bayern’s transfer activity and explained that discussions had focused on reshaping the squad and identifying the players who would not be relied upon during the current campaign.
Joao Palhinha, the Portugal midfielder, France-born Turkey defender Sacha Boey and Spain forward Bryan Zaragoza have all been formally informed that they do not feature in the first-team plans. They are now actively looking for a way to leave Bayern Munich before the transfer window shuts.
Kompany said he believed the club’s straightforward approach was the right one, drawing on his own experience as a player.
“I think the club communicating clearly with the players is extremely positive. As a former player, I always wanted this kind of honesty and clarity from the clubs I played for,” he said.
The Belgian added that the club had made its position unambiguous to the players concerned and that he fully supported the way the situation had been handled.
“The club has issued a clear and explicit message to the players involved, so we are completely aligned on this approach. More importantly, we are treating them with full respect and appreciating what they have previously given to the club,” Kompany said.
Palhinha joined Bayern Munich after making the move from Fulham, while Boey and Zaragoza have also been part of the club’s squad. However, all three now face uncertain futures as the German side continues to reshape its playing group before the transfer deadline.
Kompany stressed that the decision had not changed the way Bayern would work with the players while their futures remained unresolved. He said they would continue to be treated professionally until a final outcome had been reached.
“We will continue working with them as usual, with complete professionalism. When difficult decisions are made, they must be explained clearly and directly to everyone,” he said.
The Bayern manager also recognised that the situation could still change while the transfer market remained open. Although the club’s position had been made clear, the eventual outcome for the three players would depend on developments before the window closes.
“As long as the transfer window is open, the situation is completely clear to everyone, and after that we will see what happens, as is the case with everything else in life,” Kompany said.
He insisted, however, that his principal responsibility remained preparing Bayern Munich for the season and ensuring the team was ready to pursue its targets.
“My main task is to train the team, prepare it for the season in the best possible way and achieve the objectives that have been set,” he added.
