Ghana and Cameroon meet in a crucial Group D encounter at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday, with both sides aiming to move closer to the quarter-finals.
The match will be played at Stade Moulay Rachid in Casablanca, Morocco, and will kick off at 19:00 French time and 18:00 in Cameroon. It will be broadcast live on beIN Sports Max in France and on Canal+ Sport in Cameroon.
Cameroon are preparing for their second group match after losing 2-1 to Mali in midweek. Marie Ngah Manga scored both of Cameroon’s goals in that game before being forced off with an injury, leaving her availability for Sunday’s match uncertain.
A victory would give Dimitri Lipoff and his players a major boost in their bid to reach the knockout stages. Cameroon, known as the Indomitable Lionesses, have not been eliminated in the group stage of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations since 2000.
The meeting with Ghana also brings a notable recent rivalry into focus. The teams have faced one another four times over the past 12 years, including three encounters at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana won 1-0 in 2014, Cameroon recorded a 1-0 victory in 2016 and the sides drew 1-1 in 2018. Their only other meeting during that period came in a friendly on 20 September 2021, when Ghana won 2-0. That remains the most recent contest between the two teams.
Ghana will also see Sunday’s fixture as an opportunity to strengthen their position at the top of the group. The Black Queens began their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Cape Verde and currently lead Group D on goal difference, with Cameroon second.
Victory for either side would put them in a strong position to advance to the knockout phase. Ghana would build on an already positive start, while Cameroon would respond immediately to their opening defeat and keep their qualification hopes firmly in their own hands.
The result could therefore have a significant bearing on the final Group D standings, with both teams seeking to avoid an early exit from the competition.
