Haissem Hassan is hesitant about moving to the Saudi Pro League despite receiving a lucrative long-term offer, with the Real Oviedo winger still keen to continue his career in Europe.
The Saudi proposal is understood to be the most serious offer received for the Egypt international so far and would meet Real Oviedo’s financial expectations. However, Hassan is waiting to see whether interest arrives from more competitive European leagues before making a final decision.
According to Spanish newspaper La Nueva Espana, Hassan returned to Real Oviedo training after completing his involvement in the 2026 World Cup. Despite the scale of the contract on offer, the 23-year-old has maintained his current position of not wanting to move to Saudi Arabia at this stage.
The proposed deal would include a long-term contract and a salary considerably higher than Hassan could expect to earn in Spain. Nevertheless, the player’s preference remains to stay in Europe and assess alternative opportunities before committing to his next move.
Real Oviedo regard Hassan’s sale as a major priority this summer. The club would use the income from the transfer to increase its wage limit, which is set by La Liga, and strengthen its squad with new signings before the start of the season.
The club also intends to use money generated by Hassan’s departure to help fund a move for Argentine defender Kevin Lomonaco, one of its leading targets during the current transfer window. Any progress on that deal, however, is tied to a resolution over Hassan’s future.
Hassan’s performances at the 2026 World Cup, particularly in the match against Argentina, have significantly increased his market value. Real Oviedo are not currently expected to receive the full value of the player’s €12m release clause, with negotiations continuing while the club awaits his final response to the Saudi offer.
The situation leaves Real Oviedo balancing two competing priorities: securing a substantial transfer fee to improve its financial flexibility while also waiting for Hassan to decide whether his sporting ambitions outweigh the financial appeal of a move to the Saudi Pro League.
For now, the winger’s position has not changed. Although the Saudi offer is financially attractive and would satisfy the club’s valuation, Hassan is giving preference to European football and remains reluctant to leave the continent.
