Villarreal are considering a move for Angolan midfielder Beni Mukendi from Vitoria Guimaraes as they assess central midfield options ahead of the new LaLiga campaign.
Mukendi, 24, has emerged as a target after establishing himself in Liga Portugal with Vitoria, where he is under contract until 30 June 2029. The club are under no pressure to sell, and any talks would be shaped by the player’s current valuation of around €4m.
Born in Luanda and a right-footed central midfielder, Mukendi has become a regular in Portugal’s top flight, making 88 Liga Portugal appearances for Vitoria. His performances have been backed up by silverware, having helped the club lift the Portuguese League Cup in the 2025-26 season.
Vitoria invested significantly to bring Mukendi in, paying a €3m fee to sign him from Casa Pia in February 2025 after his rise through Portuguese football. His long-term deal, running to 2029, means the Primeira Liga side would likely look to protect both their sporting and financial interests if Villarreal firm up their interest.
The Spanish club are understood to be tracking midfielders with top-flight experience in Europe, and Mukendi’s consistent game time in Portugal has put him on their radar. For now, he remains a key part of Vitoria Guimaraes’ plans as he approaches the peak years of his career under a lengthy contract at the Estadio D. Afonso Henriques.
