Guinean defender Mamadouba Diaby has ended his time with Swedish club Degerfors IF after both parties agreed to terminate his contract with immediate effect.
The club confirmed on Tuesday that the separation was reached by mutual consent, bringing an end to the defender’s two-year spell with the Swedish side.
Diaby, who joined Degerfors in February 2024, leaves the club after making 57 appearances across all competitions and scoring one goal.
The Guinean player now becomes a free agent and is available to join a new club as he looks for the next chapter of his career.
In a farewell message published by Degerfors, Diaby reflected positively on his experience with the club and thanked the supporters for their backing during his time in Sweden.
“I am very happy to have been part of Degerfors IF. This club has been like a family to me. It was an honor to represent the team in the Superettan and the Allsvenskan, and I thank the fans for their support.”
The defender’s departure brings to a close a period in which he experienced football at different levels of Swedish competition.
During his stay, Diaby represented Degerfors in both the Superettan and Allsvenskan, contributing to the club’s campaign through consistent involvement in the squad.
The agreement between the player and the club allows both sides to move forward without dispute, with Degerfors now preparing for the remainder of the season with changes to their squad, while Diaby begins the search for a new opportunity.
For the Guinean defender, his time in Sweden provided valuable experience in European football and added to his career journey outside Africa.
