Tunisia centre-back Alaa Ghram, currently at Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk, is being linked with a move to Serie A club Genoa.
The 25-year-old defender, who joined Shakhtar from CS Sfaxien in July 2024 for a reported €2m fee, is under contract in Donetsk until June 2029, meaning Genoa would need to negotiate a transfer rather than target a free move. Ghram’s current market valuation stands at around €1.5m, a figure likely to form a reference point in any discussions between the clubs.
Ghram has already sampled European competition with Shakhtar, featuring in both the Ukrainian Premier Liga and the Champions League, after establishing himself in Tunisia with CS Sfaxien. His height of 1.90m and experience in continental tournaments, including the CAF Confederation Cup and Europa Conference League, add to his appeal as Genoa look to strengthen their defensive options for the forthcoming Serie A campaign.
Before moving to Ukraine, Ghram won the Tunisian Cup twice with CS Sfaxien and has since added a Ukrainian league title and domestic cup to his honours with Shakhtar, underlining his exposure to high-pressure matches in different environments.
Shakhtar’s long-term deal with the right-footed centre-back places the Ukrainian side in a strong position should Genoa decide to formalise their interest in the coming weeks. For now, Ghram remains part of the Shakhtar squad and is tied to the club for another three years.
