Zamalek have confirmed they have been officially granted a licence to compete in next season’s CAF Champions League after meeting all the Confederation of African Football’s participation requirements.
The Cairo club will return to Africa’s premier club competition as Egyptian Premier League champions, having clinched the domestic title last season.
In a statement published on Saturday evening on their official account on X, Zamalek announced that the club’s Champions League licence had been approved, presenting it as “a response to the doubters” and stressing that “actions, not words” were what ultimately mattered.
According to the statement, the Confederation of African Football has ratified Zamalek’s eligibility to take part in the tournament once the club completed every condition laid down for clubs entering the competition.
The club said it had submitted all necessary documents and paperwork to the Club Licensing Committee, headed by counsellor Mahmoud Abdein, which then examined the file in full compliance with the existing regulations.
Zamalek added that the committee handled the case “with complete neutrality and transparency” and that all procedures were applied in full “without favouritism”.
The statement underlined that securing the African licence was, in the club’s view, the clearest answer to those who had questioned Zamalek’s position in recent weeks.
Club officials said Zamalek had “remained silent throughout the past period”, choosing to focus on calmly completing the licensing process rather than engaging in public arguments while checks and approvals were still under way.
They stressed that all steps had now been finalised and that the club’s situation was confirmed to be in order, paving the way for their return to the CAF Champions League.
The statement concluded: “The most important thing in the end is actions, not words, and the goal has always been to close this file in a manner befitting the name and history of Zamalek.”
