Algerian centre-back Youcef Douar has joined USM Khenchela on a free transfer from ES Setif. The 28-year-old moves within Ligue 1, strengthening Khenchela’s defensive options ahead of the new campaign.
Douar, born in Oran and right-footed, arrives with significant top-flight experience after establishing himself in Algeria’s elite division. He has amassed 169 Ligue 1 appearances, chipping in with two goals and one assist while playing 13,729 minutes in the competition.
The defender’s switch comes after two seasons with ES Setif, whom he joined from Paradou AC, also on a free transfer, in the 2024/25 season. His market value is currently assessed at €250,000, underlining his status as an experienced domestic performer rather than an emerging prospect.
Before his move to Setif, Douar came through the ranks at Paradou, stepping up from the club’s U21 side to the senior team in 2017. He went on to feature regularly in the league and appeared in national cup competitions, including the Coupe d’Algerie and the Coupe de la Ligue d’Algerie, as well as in the CAF Confederation Cup, adding continental experience to his CV.
Standing at 1.80m, Douar is expected to operate in his natural role at the heart of the back line for his new club. His arrival gives USM Khenchela an experienced domestic centre-back who is familiar with the tempo and physical demands of Ligue 1 football.
The move, completed on 20 July 2026, sees Douar leave ES Setif at the end of his contract and continue his career in Ligue 1 with USM Khenchela on a permanent, free-transfer deal.
