Beşiktaş president Serdal Adalı is expected to hold talks with Mohamed Salah as the Turkish club continues negotiations over a potential free transfer for the Egypt captain during the current summer transfer window.
According to reports in the Turkish media, the meeting is expected to take place while Salah is on holiday in Greece, with discussions focusing on the financial terms of the proposed deal.
Agent’s commission reportedly a major obstacle
Turkish journalist Efecan Oztas told A Spor that Adalı intends to explain to Salah that the club cannot accept the commission reportedly requested by the player’s agent.
According to the reports, Salah’s representative, Ramy Abbas, has asked for a commission worth 35% of the contract value, a figure that Beşiktaş are unwilling to meet.
Oztas added that the negotiations are expected to reach a conclusion by next Wednesday, when the move could either be approved or abandoned.
Shirt sales part of financial strategy
Meanwhile, Turkish journalist Dogan Gundogu reported that Beşiktaş believe Salah’s commercial appeal could significantly offset the cost of the transfer.
According to the report, the club’s target is to sell 200,000 Mohamed Salah shirts, a figure they believe would recover a substantial portion of the financial outlay associated with signing the Egyptian star.
Gundogu added that the club president is expected to take definitive action on the deal by Wednesday or Thursday, following his discussions with the player.
For now, no agreement has been reached, with the reported dispute over the agent’s commission remaining the main obstacle to completing the transfer.
