Fulham have rejected an official offer from Italian side Como for Morocco international Issa Diop, according to reports, as the Premier League club look to retain the defender following his impressive performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The London club are understood to have turned down the approach as they seek to keep one of their key defenders ahead of the new season.
Diop’s displays for Morocco during the World Cup have reportedly strengthened Fulham’s resolve to hold on to the centre-back, with the club unwilling to consider a sale at this stage of the summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old has been a key figure in Morocco’s impressive campaign under head coach Mohamed Ouahbi, playing a central role in the Atlas Lions‘ defensive organisation.
He has also contributed at the other end of the pitch, scoring a crucial equaliser against the Netherlands in the knockout stages.
The goal helped Morocco force extra time after falling behind, before the North Africans went on to win the tie in a penalty shoot-out and secure their place in the Round of 16.
Diop’s performances throughout the tournament have enhanced his reputation and attracted interest from clubs across Europe.
Among those to make a move was Serie A club Como, who are reported to have submitted a formal bid in an attempt to lure the defender to Italy.
However, Fulham have made it clear they are not prepared to part with the Morocco international.
The club view Diop as an important member of the squad and believe his experience and consistency will be vital as they prepare for the upcoming Premier League campaign.
His performances on the international stage have only reinforced that position, with Fulham determined to resist interest in one of their most reliable defenders.
The decision to reject Como’s offer underlines the club’s desire to maintain stability within the squad rather than sanction the departure of key players during the transfer window.
For Diop, his World Cup form has further established him as one of Morocco’s standout performers as the Atlas Lions continue their pursuit of another historic run in the competition.
While interest in the defender is expected to continue, Fulham’s current stance suggests they have no intention of negotiating his departure before the transfer window closes.
