Kaizer Chiefs have completed the signing of Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana, making him the club’s seventh new arrival of the season.
The 27-year-old joins Amakhosi after spending the past two years playing in North Africa and the Middle East. His move to the Soweto club follows his departure from Esperance, with reports linking him with Kaizer Chiefs before the deal was officially confirmed on Wednesday.
Mokwana becomes the latest addition to a squad that has undergone several changes during the current campaign. Kaizer Chiefs began their recruitment in pre-season by signing defender Thabo Moloisane as a free agent after he left Stellenbosch FC.
Goalkeeper Renaldo Leaners was the next player to arrive, also without a transfer fee. Amakhosi then added Adolf Mtasingwa from Tanzania before securing the signing of Langelihle Phili from Stellenbosch FC.
As part of the agreement involving Phili, Kaizer Chiefs also brought in Faiz Abrahams on loan.
Khanyisa Mayo, who initially joined the club on a season-long loan last campaign, subsequently made his move permanent. Mokwana’s arrival completes the club’s list of seven signings for the season.
