Togo name Lilian Brassier in squad for crucial Algeria double-header

Lilian Brassier has been included in Togo’s final squad for the decisive 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Algeria on 14 and 17 November.

The Eintracht Frankfurt defender was selected by manager Patrice Neveu after agreeing to represent the Eperviers. He had first been named in the coach’s 31-man preliminary squad before his place was confirmed in the final selection on 3 November 2026.

Brassier, 27, has been pursued by the Togolese Football Federation for some time. The former Brest player will bring experience from the Bundesliga and European football as Togo look to strengthen their defence against the Fennecs’ attack.

His decision to join the national team is regarded as an important boost for Togo’s sporting project and a significant message to players with eligibility for more than one country. Brassier is expected to add authority and stability to the Eperviers’ back line during the two matches.

The first meeting will take place in Algeria on 14 November, before the return fixture at Stade de Kegue in Lome on 17 November.

Togo supporters are hoping the Cannes-born defender can make a strong international debut and help the team secure a positive result across the two legs.
