Egypt will hold their final training session at the Air Defense Stadium on Sunday before travelling to South Sudan for their second 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match.
National team director Ibrahim Hassan confirmed that the session will begin at 09:30 on Sunday morning as the Pharaohs prepare for Tuesday’s match in Juba.
The change in training venue is intended to give the players the opportunity to work on a pitch similar to the one they will encounter in South Sudan.
Hassan said Egypt will train at the Air Defense Stadium because it provides a playing surface comparable to the pitch at the South Sudan venue. The match in Juba is scheduled to begin at 15:00 on Tuesday.
Following Sunday’s training session, the Egypt delegation will leave for South Sudan at 12:10.
The journey is expected to take more than five hours, with the squad travelling directly ahead of the second-round qualifier.
The decision to move the training session comes as Egypt continue preparations for their next competitive fixture after beginning their qualifying campaign with a draw.
Egypt were held to a 0-0 draw by Angola on Friday evening in their opening Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match.
The result gave the Pharaohs a point from their first Group B fixture and leaves them preparing for their first away match of the qualifying campaign.
Hassan’s announcement provides details of the team’s schedule in the build-up to the South Sudan game, with Sunday’s morning session followed by the journey to Juba.
The players will therefore have a final training opportunity in Egypt before travelling to South Sudan for Tuesday’s fixture.
Egypt are preparing for a 15:00 Cairo-time kick-off in Juba, where they will face South Sudan in the second round of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Pharaohs will be looking to build on their opening result against Angola when they take on South Sudan.
The match will be played on Tuesday, with the Egyptian delegation scheduled to depart on Sunday afternoon after completing their final training session in Egypt.
The Air Defense Stadium session will begin at 09:30, giving the squad several hours to complete preparations before leaving for the airport.
With the journey to South Sudan expected to last more than five hours, the team’s schedule has been arranged around the early training session and the subsequent departure.
Egypt’s next fixture is therefore set for Tuesday in Juba, where they will meet South Sudan in the second round of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
