Omar Marmoush granted leave from Egypt camp ahead of wedding

Omar Marmoush has been excused from Egypt’s initial travel plans to the United States after receiving permission from the national team’s technical staff to attend his wedding.

The forward is expected to link up with the Pharaohs squad on 2 June as preparations continue for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Egypt’s final warm-up fixture before the tournament will see them face Brazil in Ohio on 6 June, with Marmoush anticipated to rejoin the squad ahead of the match.

The Pharaohs will begin their World Cup campaign against Belgium in Seattle on 15 June. Egypt have been drawn in Group G alongside New Zealand and Iran.

Marmoush is expected to play a central role in Egypt’s hopes of progressing from the group stage after another productive season at  Manchester City.

The attacker scored eight goals in 36 appearances for the English club and is widely regarded as one of Egypt’s key attacking threats heading into the tournament.

With his wedding celebrations taking place before the competition, Egypt will be hoping Marmoush’s brief absence does little to disrupt preparations as they target a strong showing on football’s biggest stage.
