Al-Ahly Football Company chairman Ayman Fathi Hussein has revealed details of Ahmed Sayed Zizo’s contract with the club, saying the Egypt international is the player for whom the highest amount of tax is paid in the country.
Fathi also disclosed that the video announcing Zizo’s arrival at Al-Ahly has surpassed 100 million views, highlighting the commercial impact of the player’s move to the club.
Speaking on Al-Nahar television, Fathi rejected suggestions that there are discrepancies between the values of Al-Ahly players’ contracts and the amounts officially recorded in their professional agreements.
He insisted that all of the club’s contracts are valid and that the financial obligations associated with them are being met.
“Al-Ahly’s contracts are 200% valid, and the contract with Zizo includes a professional contract in addition to a contract for commercial rights,” he said.
Fathi explained that Zizo’s agreement consists of separate professional and commercial rights contracts, with taxes paid on the money received by the player under both arrangements.
“There is a commercial rights contract and another professional one, and I will mention a surprise: we pay taxes on all commercial and professional contracts according to the highest tax bracket in Egypt, which is 27.5%.”
The Al-Ahly official then revealed what he described as a significant detail concerning Zizo’s tax payments.
“To put this matter to rest and prevent any recurrence, Zizo is the highest-taxed player in Egypt.”
Fathi was careful, however, not to describe Zizo as the highest-paid player in Egyptian football.
“I don’t know if he is the most expensive player in Egypt or not, but he is the most expensive player for whom taxes are paid in Egypt.”
He said Zizo’s commercial rights agreement was structured differently and included amounts on which the required taxes had already been paid in full.
Fathi declined to disclose the total amount paid in tax, saying doing so could make it possible to calculate the financial compensation received by the player.
He also reiterated that Al-Ahly Football Company operates under the highest income tax bracket of 27.5%.
According to Fathi, Zizo had the highest commercial exploitation contract when Al-Ahly completed the agreement with him.
The club official also highlighted the commercial response to the player’s arrival, revealing that the video presenting Zizo to Al-Ahly supporters had passed 100 million views.
He said the level of attention generates financial returns for the company, while Zizo has also been involved in a number of advertising campaigns.
Fathi added that Zizo, Imam Ashour and Mohamed El Shenawy have all participated in several advertising campaigns.
He explained that Al-Ahly’s commercial agreement with Zizo was concluded directly, while the company obtained commercial rights connected to existing agreements involving some of the club’s other players.
The figures provide further details about the financial and commercial arrangements surrounding Zizo’s move to Al-Ahly, while Fathi maintained that the club’s contracts and tax payments are fully valid.
