Zamalek’s technical staff have given the players four days away from group training after their 1-0 victory over Ghazl El Mahalla, allowing the squad to recover following a demanding run of matches.
The decision, led by technical director Moataz Gamal, came immediately after Zamalek secured victory in the fifth round of the Egyptian Premier League. The league has now entered a break because of the upcoming international period, giving the club an opportunity to manage the physical condition of its players.
Zamalek’s win over Ghazl El Mahalla was their latest result in a busy spell, with the squad having faced a series of matches within a short period. The technical staff decided that the players would benefit from stepping away from training and competition before preparations resume.
The four-day rest was communicated to the players after the final whistle of the Ghazl El Mahalla match.
Zamalek defeated Ghazl El Mahalla 1-0 to collect another three points and continue their strong start to the league campaign. The result took their tally to 13 points after the opening five rounds and left them at the top of the Egyptian Premier League standings.
The decision to release the players from group training was also linked to the fatigue that had built up during the previous period.
The technical staff believe the international break provides an opportunity to restore the squad’s physical readiness before the team returns to competitive action.
Rather than immediately beginning another intensive training programme, the players have been allowed time to recover from the demands of the recent schedule.
The break will also give the technical staff time to prepare for the next stage of the campaign, with Zamalek set to return to group training on Monday evening.
Once the players report back, preparations will begin for the resumption of competitions after the international break.
The next period will include the return of the Cairo Cup as well as the continuation of the Egyptian Premier League, meaning the squad will soon return to a competitive schedule.
For Gamal and his technical staff, the immediate priority is to ensure the players make full use of the break before beginning preparations again.
The four-day rest comes after Zamalek maintained their positive run through the first five league matches. Their 13-point tally has provided further encouragement to the players and technical staff ahead of the pause in domestic competition.
With the league temporarily suspended, the coaching staff have used the opportunity to give the squad a short recovery period before the focus switches back to preparations for the return of competitive football.
Zamalek will therefore resume group training on Monday evening, with the players expected to begin preparations for the upcoming stage after benefiting from the break granted following their victory over Ghazl El Mahalla.
