Leon Bailey has ended his time at Aston Villa and joined Greek champions Olympiacos, with the move to the Piraeus club confirmed by its official press service.
The 29-year-old Jamaica attacking midfielder has left the Birmingham side to continue his career in the Greek championship. Transfermarkt reports that Bailey has signed a three-year contract with Olympiacos, while the transfer fee is understood to be €5m.
Bailey’s move brings an end to a spell with Aston Villa that began in 2021. He arrived at the Premier League club as an attacking option and remained with the team until his departure for Greece.
His final season at Aston Villa was limited in terms of appearances. Bailey featured in 13 Premier League matches for the Birmingham club last season and registered one assist.
The transfer was announced by Olympiacos, who will now become Bailey’s new club after four seasons associated with Aston Villa. The agreement reported by Transfermarkt gives the Jamaican a three-year stay in Piraeus, with the €5m fee marking the financial terms of his move.
Bailey’s latest career change takes him from the English Premier League to the Greek championship. His departure also closes his involvement with Aston Villa, for whom he had played since 2021.
During the last Premier League campaign, Bailey was involved in 13 matches for Aston Villa and contributed one goal assist. The attacking midfielder will now represent Olympiacos after completing his transfer from the Birmingham club.
