Juventus have completed the signing of Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr on loan for the 2026/27 season, with the agreement including a conditional option to buy that could eventually become mandatory.
Tottenham confirmed the move on their official X account during the final days of the current summer transfer window. The Italian club will initially pay about £1.7m for the loan, while a further £24m purchase clause has been included in the deal.
That clause will become obligatory if Juventus qualify for either the Champions League or the Europa League and Sarr features in at least 50% of the team’s matches.
The overall value of the transfer could therefore reach about £26m for Tottenham, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. Juventus’ final payment would represent a significant return for the London club, who signed Sarr from Metz for £16.9m in 2021.
The move brings the Senegal international’s five-year spell in north London to an end. Sarr made more than 140 appearances for Tottenham after arriving from Metz, but his position in the midfield pecking order had fallen under manager Roberto De Zerbi.
Tottenham strengthened their midfield options during the summer, with Sandro Tonali and Matheus Fernandes added to a group that already included Conor Gallagher, Rodrigo Bentancur, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall. Sarr consequently sought a departure in search of more regular playing time.

Sarr, who is 23, now moves to Turin with Juventus holding a clear route to a permanent transfer if the conditions in the agreement are met. The deal gives Tottenham the possibility of receiving the full £26m package while allowing the midfielder to continue his career in Serie A.
His departure follows a summer in which Tottenham increased competition for places in central midfield. The arrivals of Tonali and Fernandes added to the established choices of Gallagher, Bentancur, Gray and Bergvall, making regular first-team opportunities more difficult for Sarr.
The Senegal player had spent five years with Tottenham, having joined from Metz in 2021, and his loan to Juventus marks the next stage of his career after more than 140 appearances for the Premier League club.
