Juventus have received a double boost in the closing stages of the summer transfer window, with Pape Matar Sarr arriving in Turin to complete his move from Tottenham Hotspur and Nick Woltemade agreeing personal terms for a loan from Newcastle United.
The Serie A club have turned to the Premier League for late reinforcements, securing deals for both players as they strengthen their squad before the window closes.
Sarr travelled to Turin on Monday evening after Juventus reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for the midfielder. The Senegal international is expected to undergo his medical examinations on Tuesday before formally completing the switch.
The deal is structured as an initial loan, with Juventus holding an option to buy Sarr at the end of the season. The total value of the transfer could reach €30m.
That option will become an obligation to buy if two conditions are met. Juventus must qualify for the Europa League and Sarr must feature in at least 50% of the team’s matches during the campaign.
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Roberto De Zerbi had already confirmed that Sarr had asked to leave London, paving the way for the agreement between the two clubs.
Juventus have also reached an agreement over personal terms with Woltemade, who is now expected to leave England for Turin within hours.
The Bianconeri have negotiated a €5m loan for the German international from Newcastle United. Unlike the Sarr agreement, however, the deal does not include an option to buy.
Woltemade will therefore return to Newcastle United next summer, with Juventus having no provision to make his move permanent at the end of the loan spell.
His arrival is intended to replace Jonathan David, who has just agreed to join Atletico de Madrid on loan. That deal includes an option to buy, with the potential transfer fee set at €25m.
The two late moves underline Juventus’ focus on the Premier League as they seek to add to their squad before the transfer window closes. Sarr’s arrival is subject to the completion of his medical, while Woltemade’s transfer is dependent on the final stages of his journey from England and the completion of the formalities surrounding his loan.
Together, the agreements give Juventus two new additions while preserving different long-term arrangements for each player: Sarr could remain in Turin permanently if the specified conditions are met, whereas Woltemade is due to return to Newcastle United next summer.
The deals come as Juventus continue to work in the final hours of the window, with the club having moved quickly to secure replacements and reinforcements from England.
