Manchester United will welcome Manchester City to Old Trafford on 13 September, looking to extend a Premier League home record that currently stands at nine wins and one defeat from 10 matches in 2026.
The fixture will be the Manchester derby and Manchester United’s second home game of the new Premier League season. It follows a 5-2 victory over Ipswich in the second round of the competition.
Manchester United’s first Premier League home match of the year also came against Manchester City, when they secured a 2-0 win on 17 January. That result began a sequence of strong performances at home, with the club winning nine of the 10 listed league fixtures.
The only defeat during that run came against Leeds United, who won 2-1 at Manchester United on 14 April.
The complete home record is:
– 17 January: Manchester United 2-0 Manchester City
– 1 February: Manchester United 3-2 Fulham
– 7 February: Manchester United 2-0 Tottenham
– 1 March: Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace
– 15 March: Manchester United 3-1 Aston Villa
– 14 April: Manchester United 1-2 Leeds United
– 28 April: Manchester United 2-1 Brentford
– 3 May: Manchester United 3-2 Liverpool
– 17 May: Manchester United 3-2 Nottingham Forest
– 30 August: Manchester United 5-2 Ipswich
The results include victories over several Premier League rivals, among them Liverpool, Aston Villa, Tottenham and Manchester City. Manchester United have also demonstrated their ability to win closely contested matches, with four of the victories coming by a single goal.
Their biggest success in the sequence was the 5-2 win against Ipswich on 30 August. That match was Manchester United’s latest home league fixture before the return meeting with Manchester City.
The September derby therefore presents Manchester United with an opportunity to build on a home record that has produced 29 goals in the 10 matches listed. Manchester City will be aiming to prevent another defeat at Old Trafford after losing the corresponding fixture 2-0 in January.
The match will mark Manchester United’s second Premier League home game of the current season and their first home meeting with Manchester City since that January victory.
