Youri Tielemans received 7 after combining effective passing with a productive partnership alongside Mainoo. United lacked a natural number six, but Tielemans was able to operate comfortably when the team controlled the contest, particularly in the second half.
Mainoo’s performance earned him an 8. He was composed in possession, strong in the challenge and resilient when United did not have the ball. Operating deeper than Tielemans, he also provided a solid defensive presence. His display may have prompted questions about what Tuchel makes of his form.
Bryan Mbeumo was also given 7, despite losing concentration for Davies’ goal and nearly allowing the left-back to strike again. He improved as the match progressed.
