Como manager Cesc Fabregas said he saw “three different matches” during his side’s 2-1 away victory over Napoli in the second round of Serie A.
The result moved Como up to fourth place in the early league table, with Fabregas’ team collecting four points from their opening two matches.
Fabregas was speaking after Como secured an important win on the road against Napoli, who were beaten 2-1. The Spanish coach used the unusual description to sum up the way the match developed, saying: “I saw three different matches.”
His comments came after Como’s second Serie A fixture of the campaign. The team now have four points from two games, a start that has placed them fourth in the standings.
Como’s victory came away from home against Napoli and represents the club’s latest result in the competition. Fabregas’ side began the season with enough points from their opening fixtures to remain among the leading teams in the table after two rounds.
The result also leaves Como ahead of Genoa at this early stage of the season. Genoa have yet to claim a point, having played one match, and are currently listed with zero points.
Como and Genoa are due to meet on 4 September. That fixture will give Como the opportunity to build on their positive start and will be Genoa’s next chance to add to their league total.
Fabregas’ assessment of the Napoli match was the main focus of his reaction to the victory. His “three different matches” comment highlighted the changing nature of the contest, while the final score confirmed a second-round win for Como.
With four points from two matches, Como are currently fourth in Serie A. Napoli remain the side defeated in the 2-1 encounter, while Genoa enter their meeting with Como still without a point after one game.
The standings remain at an early stage, but Como’s away success has put them in a strong position after the opening two rounds. Their next scheduled match against Genoa on 4 September will be the club’s next fixture in the competition.
