Jonathan David has emerged as a possible target for Atletico de Madrid, with Juventus prepared to consider a temporary move for the Canada international that could become permanent if certain conditions are met.
The potential deal was reported on social media by transfer journalist Nicolo Schira, who identified the Spanish La Liga club as a possible next destination for the 26-year-old forward.
Juventus are understood to be open to a loan arrangement for David, provided it includes an obligation to buy should the agreed criteria be fulfilled. The report does not specify what those conditions would be, nor does it indicate whether negotiations between the clubs have begun.
David joined the Turin club last summer and remains under contract until the end of June 2030. Despite the length of that agreement, the current report suggests Juventus are willing to examine options for his future, with Atletico de Madrid named as a possible destination.
The Canada striker’s reported transfer value is €30m. That figure would form an important part of any potential permanent move, although a loan with a mandatory purchase clause would allow the clubs to structure the deal across more than one stage.
No transfer has been confirmed, and David remains a Juventus player. The information currently comes from Schira’s social-media report, which presents Atletico de Madrid as a possible suitor rather than confirming an agreement between the two clubs.
For Juventus, the proposed structure would provide a route to a permanent transfer while initially sending David to another club on loan. For Atletico de Madrid, it would offer the possibility of securing the forward’s services immediately while postponing the full transfer commitment until the relevant conditions are met.
David’s contract situation gives Juventus control over his registration for several more seasons, but the reported €30m valuation means any move would still involve a significant financial commitment. Whether Atletico de Madrid are prepared to meet that figure, and whether the conditions for an obligatory purchase could be agreed, remains unresolved.
