Reigning Serie A champions Inter will try to make it two wins from two in the 2026-27 season when they travel to face Cagliari on Sunday evening.
Cristian Chivu’s team began their title defence with a convincing 4-1 victory over newly promoted Monza at San Siro last Saturday. They now visit the Unipol Domus hoping to extend that winning start, with kick-off scheduled for 19:45 BST.
Cagliari also collected three points on the opening weekend. Alessandro Romano scored the only goal as they won 1-0 away to Parma, giving them an early opportunity to test themselves against the reigning champions.
According to pre-match reports from Sky Sport Italia, both teams could name unchanged starting line-ups after their successful opening fixtures.
Inter continue to assess new arrivals
Inter did not include any of their new summer signings in the starting XI against Monza. England international John Stones was introduced from the bench in the second half, but he is expected to remain among the substitutes again at Cagliari.
Yann Bisseck, Manuel Akanji and Alessandro Bastoni are set to retain their places in a back three.
Curtis Jones could be involved with the Inter squad for the first time since completing his summer move from Liverpool. However, the England midfielder is also expected to begin on the bench, with Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu and Piotr Zielinski likely to continue in midfield.
Lautaro Martinez and Pio Esposito are expected to form Inter’s attacking partnership.
Cagliari are likely to keep Romano in midfield after his match-winning goal against Parma. Harry Winks and Jacopo Fazzini are again expected to line up alongside him.
Daniel Maldini, Michel Adopo and Paul Mendy are all in contention to start in attack for the hosts.
