Real Madrid-bound Yan Diomande given permission to travel for medical

Yan Diomande’s move to Real Madrid is nearing completion after RB Leipzig authorised the 19-year-old winger to travel to Spain for his medical.

The Cote d’Ivoire international is expected in Madrid in the coming hours, where he will undergo the medical examination required before formally completing his move to the Spanish club.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Leipzig have now given Diomande permission to leave Germany. The final administrative details are being completed after the two clubs reached a full agreement following several days of intense negotiations.

The overall value of the transfer could rise to 140 million euros, including bonuses. Florian Plettenberg reports that the deal consists of a guaranteed 125 million euros, with a further 10 million euros in bonuses considered easy to achieve and an additional 5 million euros linked to performance-related objectives.

If completed on those terms, Diomande would become the most expensive signing in the history of Real Madrid, surpassing the fee paid for Jude Bellingham.

The winger is set to sign a long-term contract with Real Madrid running until 2031. Although discussions between the clubs took time to conclude, the player’s personal agreement with the Spanish side was never in doubt.

Formal documents were signed in the presence of officials from both clubs and representatives of Roc Nation Sports, the agency that manages Diomande’s career. Despite legal tensions surrounding the transfer, all parties have now definitively approved the Ivory Coast international’s move to Real Madrid, Africafoot reported exclusively.

Diomande’s arrival will bring an end to his spell with RB Leipzig, whose contract with the Abidjan-born player was due to expire in the summer of 2030. The winger is valued at 90 million euros and currently earns an annual salary of 750,000 euros in Germany, equivalent to 487,500,000 FCFA.

The transfer still requires the completion of the medical and the final formalities before it can be officially confirmed. However, Leipzig’s decision to release Diomande for his examination represents a significant step towards the deal being concluded.

His move would make him the latest high-profile addition to Real Madrid and, based on the projected total fee, the club’s record signing. The structure of the agreement means Leipzig are guaranteed 125 million euros, while the additional payments will depend on the specified bonus conditions and objectives.
