Among the standout fixtures is the first league meeting between Al Ahly and Zamalek, a match that traditionally extends beyond the importance of the three points on offer.
The Cairo derby has long been regarded as one of the defining contests of the Egyptian football calendar, with victories often providing momentum that carries into the following weeks. This season’s first encounter has been scheduled for 11 October in the sixth round.
The match also carries added significance following last season’s events. Al Ahly will be looking to respond after Zamalek secured the league title, while the reigning champions will seek to gain revenge against the side that defeated them in the league during the previous campaign.
