Morocco-France defender Redouane Halhal has joined Venezia from Belgian club KV Mechelen, becoming a new centre-back option for the Serie A side.
The 23-year-old has signed a contract with Venezia running until 30 June 2030. Halhal, who is 1.89m tall and right-footed, moves to Italy after a spell in the Jupiler Pro League with Mechelen.
Halhal made 24 appearances in the Belgian top flight, scoring once and registering two assists. He also featured in the league’s Champions’ Play-Offs, making nine appearances.
The Montpellier-born defender joined Mechelen from Atletico Madrileno in August 2024 on a free transfer. He then spent part of the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Helmond Sport in the Netherlands before returning to the Belgian club.
At Helmond Sport, Halhal played 32 matches in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie and scored one goal. His move to Venezia represents a step into Serie A and gives him experience of another major European league after spells in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Halhal has represented both Morocco and France at youth level and was part of Morocco’s Under-23 side that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2023. He has also appeared twice for Morocco at the 2026 World Cup, starting 33% of the team’s possible matches and recording 32% of the available minutes.
He began his development with Montpellier’s youth teams before progressing to Montpellier B. After leaving the French club in 2023, he spent time without a club before joining Atletico Madrileno at the start of 2024.
Venezia have completed the signing of Redouane Halhal, who will remain under contract with the club until the summer of 2030.
