Botswana centre-back Simisane Mathumo has joined Sua Flamingoes after leaving Township Rollers, completing a move that brings the experienced defender to the club on 31 July 2026.
Mathumo, 34, was born in Francistown and plays primarily as a right-footed central defender. The 1.83m player spent the previous five years with Township Rollers, having initially joined the club from O. Khouribga in August 2021.
Before his return to Botswana football, Mathumo represented the Moroccan side O. Khouribga during the 2020-21 season. He had joined O. Khouribga from Township Rollers in November 2020, following an earlier spell with FS Stars.
His senior career began with Township Rollers after progressing from the club’s under-19 side in 2007. He later moved to FS Stars in January 2019 before returning to Township Rollers in August of the same year.
Mathumo’s recorded playing figures include 11 appearances in the Betway Premiership and seven in the CAF Champions League. He did not score in those listed appearances, having completed 990 minutes in the league and 630 minutes in continental competition.
The move gives Sua Flamingoes a Botswana defender with experience of domestic football, continental competition and a spell abroad. Mathumo’s arrival also marks the latest stage of a career that has included more than one spell with Township Rollers, as well as his time in Morocco.
He joins Sua Flamingoes as a national of Botswana, having previously been associated with the Botswana club Township Rollers and Morocco’s O. Khouribga. His new club is now listed as Sua Flamingoes, with the transfer taking effect on 31 July 2026.
Mathumo has therefore completed his switch from Township Rollers to Sua Flamingoes.
