Beşiktaş are prepared to consider offers for Nigeria midfielder Wilfried Ndidi but will demand around €10m for the 29-year-old, who has attracted interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia.
Al-Ittihad and Al-Diriyah are reportedly monitoring Ndidi’s situation and could make an approach for the midfielder as the transfer window approaches its closing stages.
Beşiktaş, however, are not prepared to allow one of their key players to leave for a fee that does not meet their valuation.
Ndidi joined the Istanbul club from Leicester City last summer in a deal worth €8m and quickly established himself as an important member of the squad.
His performances have now attracted attention from Saudi clubs, with the Turkish press reporting that Al-Ittihad and Al-Diriyah are considering attempts to take the Nigeria international away from Beşiktaş.
Reports have also indicated that Al-Ittihad has made an official offer of €12.5m for Ndidi, although Beşiktaş sporting director Önder Özen said the club had not received any written proposal.
“There is interest coming from Saudi Arabia, but we have not received any written offer for Wilfried Ndidi.”
The comments suggest that, despite growing speculation surrounding the midfielder, Beşiktaş have yet to receive a formal bid that they can consider.
The situation could change quickly, however, with talks potentially moving forward if the interested Saudi clubs decide to make an official move for the player.
Beşiktaş are understood to be open to the possibility of Ndidi leaving, but the club’s position is that any transfer must take place on terms that satisfy its financial expectations.
The Istanbul side’s reported €10m valuation represents the amount they would hope to recover should the midfielder depart. Having paid €8m to sign him from Leicester City last summer, Beşiktaş would therefore seek to secure a fee that reflects his importance to the squad and the interest he has generated.
For now, Ndidi remains part of the Beşiktaş squad and continues to be regarded as an important player by the club.
The interest from Saudi Arabia could nevertheless add uncertainty to the final stages of the transfer window. With Al-Ittihad and Al-Diriyah reportedly watching the midfielder, the possibility of a late move remains open if either club decides to submit an offer that meets Beşiktaş’s demands.
Ndidi’s future is therefore likely to remain a talking point in the coming days. While the club’s management has indicated that it is not necessarily against selling the Nigerian, it has also made clear that it will not accept a deal that falls short of its valuation.
The midfielder’s importance to Beşiktaş means the club is under no immediate pressure to part with him, and the reported €10m asking price provides a clear indication of what would be required to secure his services.
