Guinea-Bissau midfielder Nanissio Soares has joined Cypriot side Ermis Aradippou on a free transfer from AEZ Zakaki. The 34-year-old defensive midfielder has signed a deal running until 31 May 2027 with the Second Division club.
Soares, who also holds Portuguese nationality, makes the switch after one season with AEZ Zakaki, continuing a long association with Cypriot football. Standing at 1.88m and operating primarily as a holding midfielder, he adds height and experience to the centre of Ermis Aradippou’s midfield.
The move extends a career that has seen Soares build up significant experience in both Cyprus and Portugal. Before arriving at AEZ Zakaki in 2025, he had spells with Pegia 2014 and APOP Polis, having first come to prominence in Portugal’s lower leagues with clubs including Gil Vicente, Trofense and Naval 1o de Maio.
In Cyprus, Soares has featured regularly in the top flight and the Second Division, amassing more than 70 appearances in the Cyprus League alone, as well as further outings in relegation and championship rounds and the domestic cup. Earlier in his career in Portugal, he made over 50 appearances in Liga Portugal 2 and more than 50 in the Portuguese third tier, contributing a handful of goals and assists from his deep-lying role.
Born in Bissau and right-footed, Soares joins Ermis Aradippou with immediate effect and will remain under contract with the club until the end of the 2026-27 season.
