France-Senegal defender Malang Sarr has joined Saudi Pro League side NEOM SC on a free transfer from Lens.
The 27-year-old centre-back moves after helping Lens to silverware in France, having been part of the squad that lifted the French Cup in the 2025-26 season. He joins NEOM SC as a left-footed central defender with experience in France, England and Portugal.
Sarr had been at Lens since 2024, when he arrived on a free transfer from Chelsea. His performances in Ligue 1 contributed to a market valuation of around €20m, but with his contract in France coming to an end, NEOM SC have secured his services without a transfer fee.
Born in Nice, Sarr made his senior breakthrough with hometown club Nice before earning a move to Chelsea in 2020. Loan spells at Porto and Monaco followed, giving him exposure to both Liga Portugal and Ligue 1, as well as regular European competition. Across his career he has accumulated close to 13,000 minutes in Ligue 1 alone, with more than 160 appearances in the French top flight, and has also featured in both the Champions League and Europa League.
Sarr was part of the Chelsea squad that won the FIFA Club World Cup in 2022, adding international club honours to his domestic success in France.
The defender’s move, completed on 22 July 2026, sees him leave Lens as a cup winner to become one of NEOM SC’s most high-profile free-transfer signings in the Saudi Pro League.
