Super Eagles star Iwobi unharmed after reported knifepoint robbery

Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has reportedly been the target of an armed burglary at his home in England, in an incident that has shocked both fans and the wider football community.

The Fulham midfielder was confronted by intruders who broke into his residence, with reports indicating that the attackers threatened him with a knife while searching the property.

The incident is said to have taken place at his home, where the assailants gained access before carrying out the robbery.

During the break-in, several valuable items were taken.

Reports suggest that the stolen property included designer watches, jewellery, two mobile phones, and a laptop.

In addition, a significant sum of money, believed to be around £200,000, was also taken from a safe inside the house.

Altogether, the total value of the stolen items is estimated to be approximately £500,000.

Despite the alarming nature of the incident, there were no reports of physical injuries.

After the attackers left the scene, Iwobi was able to alert authorities, prompting an investigation by law enforcement.

Officials are now working to track down those responsible for the burglary and recover the stolen items.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about the safety of footballers living in Europe, particularly those whose profiles make them potential targets.

For African players competing in top leagues, such situations underline the challenges that can come with success on and off the pitch.

Iwobi remains a key figure for Fulham this season.

The Nigerian has made 25 appearances in the league, contributing four goals and three assists as his club pushes for a strong finish.

With just seven matches remaining, Fulham are still in contention for a European place, making his role in the team increasingly important.

The news of the burglary has drawn reactions from supporters in Nigeria and across the continent, where Iwobi is widely regarded as one of the country’s leading footballers.

While attention will remain on the ongoing investigation, there is also relief that the midfielder and others in the household were not harmed.
