Joao Gastao: Angolan striker joins Farense on loan from Estrela Amadora

Angolan centre-forward Joao Gastao has joined Farense on a loan deal from Liga Portugal side Estrela Amadora. The 19-year-old moves to the Liga Portugal 2 club for the 2026-27 season, with the agreement running until 30 June 2027.

Gastao, a right-footed striker standing at 1.80m, arrives at Farense with experience across Portugal’s top two tiers and youth competitions. He made his senior breakthrough at Estrela Amadora after stepping up from their under-23 side in 2025, having previously played for Estrela’s under-19s.

Last season, Gastao spent part of the campaign on loan at Belenenses in Liga Portugal 2 before returning to Estrela Amadora at the end of that spell. Across league, play-off and cup appearances in Portugal, he has already featured in the top flight, second tier and national cup, as well as in under-23 competitions.

In limited minutes at senior level he has contributed goals and assists, including strikes in Liga 3 promotion and under-23 competitions, while registering further assists in Liga Portugal. His overall senior record shows he has been trusted across a variety of competitions despite his age.

Farense, competing in Liga Portugal 2, add Gastao with an eye on strengthening their attacking options for the upcoming season. The forward’s current market value stands at around €200,000, and he returns to Estrela Amadora when the loan concludes in June 2027.
