Ugandan right winger Hassan Mubiru has joined Tanzanian side Azam FC from SC Villa Jogoo, completing a cross-border move within East African football.
The 21-year-old, who has been operating in the Uganda Premier League with SC Villa, makes the switch to Azam as the Tanzanian club look to strengthen their wide attacking options. The transfer is a completed deal, with Mubiru now set to continue his development in the Tanzanian top flight.
Mubiru has been listed primarily as a right winger, a role in which his direct play and ability to operate from the flank attracted interest beyond Uganda’s borders. His progress at SC Villa, one of Uganda’s most established clubs, has given him regular exposure to top-flight competition and positioned him for a move into a new league.
Azam’s acquisition of the Ugandan wideman also reflects the growing transfer traffic between the Uganda Premier League and leading clubs in neighbouring countries, with young players increasingly using regional moves as a platform to test themselves in different environments.
Mubiru’s market value has been assessed at around €175,000, underlining how his performances at SC Villa have enhanced his profile at a relatively early stage in his career. The move offers him the opportunity to translate that value into impact on the pitch in Tanzania.
The deal sees Mubiru end his spell with SC Villa Jogoo and officially begin the next phase of his career with Azam FC.
