Rayane Bounida, the Morocco-Belgium attacking midfielder currently at Ajax, is being linked with a summer move to Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund. The 20-year-old is under contract in Amsterdam until 30 June 2028, but interest from Germany is growing as clubs across Europe monitor his development.
Bounida has begun to establish himself in Ajax’s first team after stepping up from the club’s youth system last season. Operating as an attacking midfielder, he made 23 Eredivisie appearances, contributing one goal and five assists, having first impressed with Ajax’s second team in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, where he produced eight goals and four assists in 29 outings.
Dortmund’s recruitment strategy has often focused on players emerging from strong development environments, and Bounida’s pathway in Amsterdam fits that profile. He joined Ajax’s academy from Anderlecht’s youth ranks in 2022, moving through the under-17, under-18 and under-19 sides before being promoted to Jong Ajax and then the senior squad in September 2025.
Valued at around €5 million as of late May, Bounida’s price and contract length mean Ajax are under no pressure to sell, and any formal approach from Dortmund would likely require a significant offer. The midfielder has also gained early experience of elite competition with four appearances in the UEFA Champions League for Ajax.
For now, Bounida remains an Ajax player with two years left on his deal, and the Dutch club hold a strong negotiating position should Dortmund choose to turn their interest into concrete talks.
