Venezia director Filippo Antonelli has confirmed that negotiations to sign Sevilla striker Akor Adams have reached an advanced stage, with only final details remaining before the transfer can be completed.
The Italian club are working towards an agreement for the Nigeria international after reports indicated that Venezia and Sevilla have already reached an understanding over a €16m transfer fee.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Saturday that the two clubs had agreed the financial terms of the deal, increasing expectations that Adams could soon make the move to Italy.
However, Antonelli has insisted that the transfer is not yet officially concluded, with discussions continuing over the remaining aspects of the agreement.
Speaking to reporters during a press conference on Sunday, the Venezia director said the negotiations were progressing well but warned that some issues still needed to be resolved before an announcement could be made.
“I promise that I will tell you everything once it is all closed.The talks are at a very advanced stage, but there are still some final details to work out,” Antonelli told reporters during Sunday’s press conference.
Adams joined Sevilla from French side Montpellier in January 2025 in a deal worth €5.5m, making the move after establishing himself as a promising attacking option.
Since arriving at the Spanish club, the 26-year-old has played a key role in Sevilla’s attack and enjoyed a productive campaign last season.
The Nigeria forward finished as Sevilla’s leading goalscorer during the previous season, highlighting his importance to the team’s attacking output.
Adams scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 32 league appearances, becoming one of the club’s most influential players during the campaign.
His performances have now attracted interest from Venezia, who are looking to secure his services as they continue discussions with Sevilla over a move that could be worth €16m.
The potential transfer would represent a significant step in Adams’ career, following his progression from Montpellier to Sevilla and now a possible switch to Italian football.
While both clubs are understood to have made progress, Antonelli’s comments suggest that Venezia are waiting for the final details to be resolved before the deal is officially completed.
