The United Arab Emirates took the lead against Oman in the semi-final of Gulf Cup 27, with Othman Kamara heading home after 22 minutes at the Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium in Jeddah.
The goal came after an open start featuring attacks from both sides. Mamadou Coulibaly received the ball on the left and delivered a cross towards Kamara, who directed his header into the net despite the close attention of Oman’s defenders.
Kamara’s finish was the 46th goal scored by the United Arab Emirates against Oman in the history of meetings between the two nations across all competitions.
The winner will face Saudi Arabia in the Gulf Cup 27 final. Saudi Arabia beat Qatar 3-2 on penalties on Saturday after the match ended 0-0 following normal time.
The final is scheduled to take place on 6 October at Alinma Stadium, part of King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
