Mozambican winger Geny Catamo is being linked with a move from Sporting to Sunderland, with the Premier League club reported to be considering a deal for the 25-year-old.
Catamo, who plays primarily on the right wing and favours his left foot, has a contract with Sporting until 30 June 2028. He is valued at €25m.
The Maputo-born player joined Sporting’s senior side from Sporting B in July 2023 and has since helped the club win two Portuguese league titles, in 2023-24 and 2024-25. He also won the Portuguese Cup in 2025.
Catamo has made 106 Liga Portugal appearances, scoring 17 goals and providing 12 assists. He has also featured 19 times in the Champions League, contributing two goals and three assists.
He began his development with Sporting’s youth system after joining from Amora FC on loan in 2019, before making the move permanent the following year. His progression included loan spells with Vitoria Guimaraes and Maritimo before his return to Sporting.
A transfer to Sunderland would represent a move from Portugal’s top flight to the Premier League, but there is no indication in the available details that an agreement has been reached.
Catamo remains under contract at Sporting for a further two years, with the club retaining his registration as the transfer speculation develops.
