Schalke lead race to sign Cameroon striker Frank Magri

Frank Magri is emerging as a sought-after free agent ahead of the summer transfer window after becoming available following the expiration of his contract with Toulouse FC on June 30, 2026.

Reports indicate that clubs in Germany are leading the race to sign the 26-year-old striker, with FC Schalke 04 understood to have already submitted a formal offer for the Cameroon international.

Fellow German side Hamburger SV are also reportedly monitoring the situation closely as they weigh up a possible move for the former Toulouse forward.

Interest in Magri is not limited to Germany, with clubs in France and Spain also believed to be tracking the striker due to his availability on a free transfer.

Several teams reportedly view the Cameroonian as an attractive opportunity in the market, particularly given his experience in Ligue 1 and the absence of a transfer fee.

Magri’s departure from Toulouse follows a tense period at the club after he declined to extend his contract with Les Violets.

The decision eventually led to the striker being excluded from the squad for several weeks, effectively signalling the end of his time with the French side.

Schalke are said to see Magri as a player capable of adding attacking depth, movement and experience as the club continues efforts to rebuild and push for a return to the Bundesliga.

Hamburg, meanwhile, are believed to value the forward’s versatility and see him as a potential fit within their long-term sporting plans.

Reports have also linked Angers SCO and Swansea City with interest in the striker as competition for his signature intensifies.

According to Transfermarkt, Magri currently holds an estimated market value of €4 million.

During the current campaign, the former Angers player made 17 Ligue 1 appearances, scoring five goals and registering one assist.

With interest continuing to build across several European leagues, the coming weeks are expected to play a major role in determining the next destination in Magri’s career.
